cache

/kaʃ/

Pronounced as /kash/

noun

  • a collection of items of the same type stored in a hidden or inaccessible place.

Using an android phone means that your applications and browser will be saving a lot of information from sites or apps you accessed in its cache. For example an app like Twitter or WhatsApp will have cache with images, audio and multimedia information saved while Chrome will save login information, images, links to help speed up the loading process when you access the webpage again. Clearing them helps to fix certain issues like, performance issues or low storage issues.

How to clear cache

Clearing your app cache is an easy process and here’s a simple guide to achieve it.

  • Go to your Settings
settings
  • Click on Storage
storage
  • Then go to Device Storage or Internal Storage

  • Click on Apps (or Other apps). This will take you to a list of all the apps installed on your phone.

  • Tap the App you want to check or clear to go into the App info.

  • You’ll see Clear data or Clear Cache. Note that if you click on clear data you’re basically clearing every information stored on your phone about the app, making it restart as newly downloaded but clicking on Clear cache will clear only the information stored and will also help to free up space on your phone. Remember that your action is irreversible.

Easy, simple and fast, just in 2 minutes you’re done. You should try clearing up your cache occasionally because it not only takes up a lot of storage space, you can also have harmful files saved that might be causing harm to your device. It’s not something you should do often, or through unreliable third-party apps. Use it only as a specific tool when needed for device performance or troubleshooting for apps.
