How to Land a Gig Through Fiverr’s Buyer Request

Waiting for buyers to text you can be quite frustrating. How can you land gigs through the Fiverr Buyer Request?

As a new seller/freelancer on Fiverr without reviews or with a few amount of reviews, buyers might find it hard to text you. Personally, it took me close to 4 weeks after signing up on Fiverr to land my first gig and that was it. I decided that I couldn’t wait for buyers to text me, so I found the Buyer Request option and tried it.

I kept sending in offers but wasn’t getting any text back. A few days ago I decided to put up a request so that sellers can send in their offers. I did this because I wanted to know how other sellers send in their requests and make corrections to mine.

My Buyer Request

This was exactly what the request looked like. I had to think and be in the mind of a buyer who had a budget that low but still wants her service delivered. I got a ton of offers and as a buyer, there were a couple of offers I didn’t care to read through before clicking the remove offer button. I already removed most of them before the idea to make a post about it came up. A few of the offers I got that I removed had the following features:

  • Two lines offer, to ask me to buy from them without giving any reason or showing any previous work
  • More than 7 lines offer, to tell me about their 6+ years experience without showing any previous work or portfolio
  • Offers way above my $15 budget. For example, $100 offers, $60 offers and the likes.
  • Offers below my budget but without any proper description of what service they would provide.
  • Offers that didn’t seem to understand what I wanted. They just copied and pasted an offer draft from their notepads.
  • Offers only stating that I (buyer) should message them to talk about the offer.
  • Offers with links to work they had done that didn’t have anything to do with the request I had posted

These are just a few of them I was able to get after I was done removing the ones I felt were bad or not good enough for considerations. One thing you should understand is if you have worked on different projects and the buyer asks for a specific project, only put up links to those projects relating to what the buyer/client wants because the client might end up clicking links that have nothing to do with the project links you posted which might make you not considered for the gig. Try to make the chances of you not getting picked slimmer.

Many years of experience but no previous work links or portfolio to prove it
No links to previous work, “please contact me” seems more like begging
Too many links

Also, make your offers concise, straight to the point, add a link to your portfolio or a few projects you previously completed that is similar to what the buyer wants and hope for the best. I had up to 10 offers left and I was looking to possibly consider one from them. They had the following qualities:

  • A concise description of what they were offering as relating to the request posted
  • List of previous works that they had done to actually prove their skills
  • A single link leading straight to their portfolio
  • Had at least one 5 star rating
  • Was within my budget

At the end of the day, the choice is now with the buyer to pick one out of the offers left. The essence of this post is to help you increase your chances of getting picked. I hope that I’ve been able to help you learn a thing or two. Kindly leave a like on my post and share if you find this helpful.
